HoloClay deals with modeling complex 2.5D clay components by unskilled workers. For this purpose, a digital relief model is generated using a grayscale image, and a height profile map defines topographic lines projected onto the sculptor’s retina using Microsoft Hololens. The user, in turn, only follows the contour lines to execute the sculpture. The results speak for themselves. Unskilled workers are able to intuitively and quickly shape clay in the way the artists and the digital files require. This is a simple method for producing 2.5D clay parts using cybercraft methods.
